Bushfire risk rating extended to all addresses
MDS' Online Risk Frontiers database has just been updated with significant improvements in bushfire coverage. Updates to the other hazards have also been included.
As outlined in the latest Release Notes (v3) -
"...coverage of bushfire risk ratings (based on the shortest distance between an address and nearby bushland) has been extended to include all G-NAF addresses.
 |
Coverage for bushfire risk rating:
In orange regions, bushland classified from recent Landsat satellite imagery was used while for the rest of the country (white regions) a 1:250K scale vegetation map from Geoscience Australia GEODATA series was used. |
A total of 8,646,688 addresses (or 76.0% of all national addresses) located in orange regions (Figure 1) were analysed with bushland classified from recent satellite images; the remaining 2,730,851 addresses (or 24.0%) were analysed with a 1:250K scale national vegetation map from Geoscience Australia."

Staff News - Bushfire Appeal |
|

Following the devastating fires in Victoria, MDS staff generously donated to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. To encourage staff to dig deep, the company matched staff dollar for dollar. The impact and importance of this appeal is obvious, with so many losing property and many of whom will require on-going health care. MDS' thoughts are with all those affected.
Donations can still be made via the Red Cross website or calling 1800 811 700.
