Product News

MDS RoadNET updates will be hitting the streets next week.

MDS has added significant value to this new release including major infrastructure openings such as the Deer Park Bypass in Melbourne, the much anticipated opening of the Epping-Chatswood Rail Link in Sydney, and the Northern Motorway Extension north of Auckland in NZ

Significant work has also been placed on analysis and updating existing street centreline data to update it with respect to additional value of Dual Carriageways, Roundabouts and Slip Ways to further improve the MDS RoadNET data.

Incremental RoadNet Update Files Now Available

MDS' value add as a significant Australian and New Zealand data vendor now includes a set of incremental update files for the MDS RoadNET Road Centreline data.  Included will be two text files which contain the relevant Street_PID value.  One file for ‘Deletions’ and one file for ‘Additions’, allowing greater ease of updating the road data for our subscription clients and partners' applications without the need for a full data reload.

Further Data Updates

MDS latest data updates for Australia & New Zealand CadLite, GNAF, RoadNet and LGA’s have now shipped.  For customers not under subscription maintenance please contact Margreet for further information via email or phone +61 2 8436 2812.

Conveyancers Convene and Discuss Natural Hazards

The Australian Institute of Conveyancers held their Bi-annual conference in Alice Springs from 13th to 15th March.  MDS would like to thank the organisers for hosting the event and all those who visited the stand to discuss the Natural Hazards Risk Rating Service.

There was a lot of interest, not just in the Risk Rating Database but also in the raffle for a lovely bottle of red wine and 10 free reports.  Congratulations must go to Cheryl Alt from Alternative Conveyancing, NSW who was the holder of the winning ticket.

If you are buying property or want to assess your existing residence, ask your conveyancer for an MDS Risk Report or click here.

Attributing Blame in the Black Saturday Wildfires

MDS' partner Risk Frontiers reviews the recent Victorian bush fires in their newsletter.

"Even as fire services still struggle to contain Victorian fires, the blame game has begun.  With about 200 deaths and 1800 homes destroyed, someone has to be responsible.

The experts have all the answers: global climate change; arsonists; lack of clarity of the warnings; the controversial ‘prepare, stay and defend or go early’ policy; interstate bickering by politicians; greenies,..."  Read on...

Ensure you address all the risks that may affect your property and your insurance coverage is sufficient.  Assess your property now.

Insurance industry can access all the natural hazard perils (not just flood) via our web services.  Please contact Margreet for further information via email or phone +61 2 8436 2812.

Customer News -Tough times made easier

For Park & Fly, online proved to be the difference

MDS recently helped Park & Fly solve one of their biggest problems while increasing their business by incorporating MDS' interactive online locator.

"our location is complex, as the street address does not match the driveway entry.  GPS systems would bring our customers (many of whom travel from rural NSW) to the wrong place.  There is only one entrance to the car park and customers were getting lost, resulting in lost revenue." says Sunny Sirabas – Marketing and Communications at Park & Fly

By specifying the requirements, MDS was quickly able to provide an interactive locater that took into consideration the one entrance, so that accurate door-to-door driving directions were available to customers.

"...ensuring that our customers can find and locate our facility painlessly, without having to leave our website"  Read the full press release

For more information on how an interactive online locator can help your business, please contact Lisa Le via email or phone +61 2 8436 2835.

What our customers are saying

"...the MDS Australia data is "Fantastic" and we (one of the world's largest governments) are very pleased with it..."
