Attention All Conveyancers!

Why not refer your prospects and clients to the Australian Conveyancers NSW Division, VIC Division or WA Division's websites to evaluate the possible risk of natural hazards - Flood, Bushfire, cyclone, hail, earthquake – prior to purchasing or, if after the fact, to help establish the need for the appropriate risk insurance?

Remember, they don’t need to pay up front ($55 incl GST) to find out if there are risk ratings for any of the hazards.  Only after they have seen the hazard indications would they request a more detailed report!

Enhance and backup your invaluable local knowledge with a better understanding of this natural perils information.  It will be appreciated and valued by your prospects and clients, setting you apart from the others!

Please contact Margreet via email or +61 2 8436 2812 for more information.

Sydney Landmark "The Hungry Mile" is officially recognised

The Sydney City Council has accepted the Maritime Union of Australia's bid to rename a section of Hickson Road in Sydney, The Hungry Mile.  It was formally re-named as an official urban space in Sydney to ensure its link to history lasts forever.

The request was made based on a special time in Sydney's history, where during the depression, casual workers would go from wharf to wharf desperately looking for work, every day, on every shift.  The system of employment was known as the "bull system", offering jobs to the biggest, strongest or most compliant workers.  Often the foreman would throw work tickets into the air for the men to fight over.    Those that missed out or couldn't do the work didn't get paid and would go hungry.  The pay was very low and there weres no minimum wages or workplace practices.

"An urban place that includes the section of Hickson Road between the Munn Street overbridge and the Napoleon Street intersection.  Located mainly in the suburbs of Barangaroo and Millers Point." Geographical Names Board of New South Wales.

The site will be developed with environmentally friendly business buildings and parklands.
