MDS has been busy updating the Points of Interest data sets and in particular the Schools and Shopping Centres.  The Schools will include a MySchools URL and Shopping Centres an additional size classification.

 

OUT NOW!  Car rentals (>900), Book Stores (>300) and Caravan parks (over 1,600).

MDS expands its team, embracing industry heavyweight

 

MDS is pleased to announce that Quill Williams has joined the MDS sales team as the Sales Manager.  Quill takes on this newly created role following the recent acquisition of MDS by ESRI Australia.

 

Mr Williams joins MDS with 30+ years experience in the spatial industry. He has held various positions in commercial, government and academia and almost 20 years in sales roles covering consulting/mapping technologies and spatial solutions. Most recently, Mr Williams was Principal Consultant at ESRI Australia.  Read the full announcement

MDS would like to thank all those we met at the recent FSM2010 conference.  MDS exhibited and discussed the ‘4 Pillars’ that support business productivity, that is, to ‘plan, track, deliver and report’.  MDS FleetTrack and Optimisation services created interest in business visibility.
 
It was interesting to notice that nearly all delegates we spoke to during the conference explained that they were on the field service productivity ‘journey’ and where keen to employ technology to assist them in driving their workforce management capabilities further.

Did you know?

 

I would walk 5,000 miles. Well almost.

 

Over 8,000kms, equivalent to walking from Sydney to Perth and back again or the length of New Zealand from top to bottom and back again...twice.

 

Now that's a long way.  Then consider that the MDS data team updates and maintains over 2,307,061km of the Australian road network and 222,471km of the New Zealand road network.  Now that's a big job.  If you drove that and claimed on your expenses at $0.65 per km.  That would be over $1.6mill.

 

I spy with my little eye...

 

If you travelled on all the roads in Australia, you would pass through 16,000 suburbs/locality boundaries and past 11 million address points with 10 million property parcels.
