Why is quality geocoding important to any business? |
|
261 George St, Sydney,
NSW, 2000 |
X = -33.864451,
Y = 151.207308 |
It has been said many times that “everything is somewhere” and it has also been said that over 80% of government and corporate records have a geographic or spatial component. There is significant fact in both of these statements.
By spatially enabling records within a database, a range of new information may be gleaned and an expanded set of queries regarding that information may be undertaken.
The mystery is how spatial enabling is achieved, what are the benefits and the pitfalls of geocoding your databases.

MDS sponsors Men of League foundation
|
 |
MDS is pleased to announce its support for the Men of League Foundation, which was launched on the 11th of July 2002.
The Foundations charter is to assist Rugby League players, coaches, referees, officials and administrators, from ALL levels of the Game, and members of their families who have fallen on hard times. |
There has been a rapid rise with enquires from volunteers looking to help the Foundation and locate their nearest committee. This meant an increase in phone calls and emails that need to be answered. Men of League contacted MDS to see if there was a way to provide a map that would help Geo Enable this information, providing the information needed via their website and published in their magazine.
The foundation currently has 21 local committees covering Australia's Eastern Seaboard. MDS provided the map that was required, enabling the wider community to find how to get in contacting with their local committee or how to start one themselves.

Did you know? |
|
Why some people can, some can't
Being able to read a map and maintaining your bearings while driving is a skill, and the ability to perceive distance between objects and the relationships among them, is visual spatial awareness.
Did you ever feel a need to rotate the map while navigating in a car? (if you still remember the road atlas)
Being a reader of this newsletter you would know that Geo-enabling you data and systems will help you and your customers make better business decisions. MDS can help you "make it easier" for all concerned.
Try these spatial puzzles and test your skills. Challenge yourself with Through Walls 3D.
