MDS’ address ranged spatial database updates for Australia and New Zealand are shipping now for customers under subscription maintenance.

MDS and Data Nets Limited have partnered to provide current digital mapping and live fleet tracking services in Papua New Guinea (PNG). One of the first applications of the service is to protect the fuel tankers and their cargo for a major energy provider in the region, by allowing them to utilise GPS tracking devices and real time monitoring of the vehicles. New Zealand's mapping adds $1.2 billion in benefits
In 2008, the use and re-use of spatial information is estimated to have added $1.2 billion in productivity-related benefits to the New Zealand economy. This value is the result of increasing adoption of modern spatial information technologies over the period 1995-2008, and is equivalent to slightly more than 0.6 per cent of GDP or GNP in 2008.
