RoadNet Update

MDS will be shipping updates for Australia and New Zealand RoadNet before the end of the month. In this update will be two (2) new road categories, "Under Construction" and "Driveways/Private Access"

In early October, MDS will then be shipping the QuickLocate address range geocoder spatial databases.

F.Y.I on D.I.Y - Web Services makeover

For the developer community, the DIY mapping webservices is making inhouse development even easier. MDS is in the process of enhancing the existing webservices to include the latest changes in technology. This makes it even easier for developers and integrators to spatially enable their applications using MDS' expertise and experience.

Virtual Earth V6.2 released

Microsoft has announced the 6.2 release of the Virtual Earth API. This release will demonstrate to developers the commitment Microsoft is making to online GIS.

Together with the continued refresh of aerial imagery and the ongoing updates of mapping data, Microsoft is THE business development platform for the global online community.

Team SOAK were the 2008 Microsoft Imagine Cup Champions. Students from four universities built a system using Virtual Earth, minimising water use in the agriculture industry.

OZRI 2008
27-29th October

 

Margreet and Ravi would like to invite all ESRI users to visit the MDS booth (Stand 2) at the upcoming OZRI 2008, being held in the National Convention Centre, Canberra.

During the conference MDS will be demonstrating Microsoft's Virtual Earth integrated with a variety of geospatial data. Virtual Earth is a web based data visualisation and mapping platform for your enterprise; readily integrated with your own data.

Staff

The HR department has been busy with some new staff joining our ongoing expanding team. MDS would like to welcome the following colleagues:

The Operations Team welcomes Viswa, who joins the MDS Team as a Junior DBA bringing 2 years of experience in Microsoft SQL SVR technologies.

The Data Team has two new additions, with Sarah James and Lin Lin joining as GIS Officers.  Both have extensive experience in Mapping Technologies and will add value to MDS' growing Data Team.

After an exhausting search, the Development Team is pleased to welcome Chris Taylor as Software Development Manager.  Chris has worked both in the UK and in Australia and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and 10+ years experience in the industry.

Did You Know...?

The "first student" graduates from "MDS' University"

MDS would like to congratulate Lilly on being the youngest student to pass her final examination - not even 2 years old. The final exam took some time, but Lilly was finally able to complete the most complex of tasks, to recognise by sound and physically locate all countries of the world.
